ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Wind River Professional Services (PS) has been helping clients implement good ideas for more than 20 years. For any technical or business challenge, our Professional Services team offers a valuable blend of skills, contacts, knowledge, intellectual property, flexible resources, design processes, and a CCMI level 3 project management methodology to get the job done.
The Project Manager, Professional Services is responsible for meeting growth targets of Professional Services across the APAC & Japan organization and has the following main areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities
Proposal Development, Estimation and Presales support
Work with services sales staff and key technical leads to qualify presales opportunities, perform architecture tradeoff analysis, and project feasibility, document proposed product solutions, estimate costs and schedules, prepare written proposals, and present proposals to customers. This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Primary customer interface for discovery and evaluation of requirements
- Work with Sales and Sr. Management throughout presales life cycle
- Request and manage assigned presales technical resources during architecture definition and project feasibility stage
- Prepare project plan with schedule, resources needs and costs
- Conducting technical presentations to customers
- Prepare formal project proposals
- Assist in sale of proposal to customer
Manage Project Execution
Set up the project development team and manage the team to complete design projects on time and within budget while meeting feature and contract requirements and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Define needed team structure and technical requirements for all staff members
- Work with Resource Management Office to request, evaluate and select all team members and needed project resources
- Act as primary customer contact throughout project engagement
- Manage project team throughout entire project life cycle
- Define standards and procedures for project execution, deliverable documentation, design reviews, testing, and document control
- Actively manage project risks
- Prepare and deliver weekly project status reports to customer
- Manage and update project plans as needed
- Primary responsibility for project costs and project profitability
- Working with customers through acceptance of deliverables
- Task management for all assigned team resources throughout project
- Management of employees including training, performing evaluations, and mentoring for technical and career development
- Ensuring customer satisfaction

- Proven experience of managing complex software projects & handling customer relationship
Qualifications
- 10 years engineering experience with hardware or embedded software design
- 5+ years engineering management experience
- Engineering management skills as demonstrated by experience successfully planning and managing multiple engineering projects; building and leading teams of 10 or more engineers; and directing the design and troubleshooting of complex software or hardware.
- Experience leading consulting projects or providing engineering services in designing embedded software or hardware preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Up to 10% travel required
